the burque bitch is back

Hola, Beautiful Bitches!

I know I’ve been out of circulation for a good while, but I’m very excited to be back here in the new year, 2026, with a new and exciting love for life and family, looking forward to good vibes and good times with good people, finding great places to see and fun things to do.

Ok, I may be talking in circles a little bit, but please bear with me. I just got home from the hospital yesterday. This is what happened:

On Saturday, December 21, 2025 I had my 4th annual “Christmas Day at Grandma’s.”

I started doing this 4 years ago so that I could have Christmas with my children and grandchildren. I know that they all have their own family time and traditions on Christmas Day, and I don’t want to take anything away from that. Plus, there’s no way I could possibly see all of them in one day, otherwise, as they live all over town.

This year I was also blessed to include some of my husband’s children and grandchildren as well.

First, I had them draw me a Christmas card on some blank cards. They’re lovely and I will treasure them all.

Everyone was snacking and playing with their cousins, new and old, and it was so nice to see everyone laughing and having a good time.

We played “Who’s the Grinchiest?” – a simple game of points received for different things like if you watched The Grinch this year, if you have a pet, if you live on a hill, etc. The player with the most points got to choose from a few gifts I had purchased and wrapped. We did the same thing for “Who’s Most Like Santa?” with points for questions that regarded Santa instead of the Grinch.

Then we had our first White Elephant gift exchange, one for the children and one for the adults. Everyone seemed happy with the gifts they ended up with. We ended the afternoon by passing out all the gifts my husband and I had gotten for everyone and letting them unwrap their gifts. I can’t tell you how wonderful it was to watch them all opening their gifts, laughing, and playing together. It was truly the best day of 2025 for me.

Sadly, about 2 days later, I caught a cold. Not really a big deal, but it led to a horrible 3-week stint of suffering. The viral infection had exacerbated my asthma so much that I could not breathe without extreme difficulty. My lungs had become so inflamed that my inhalers were completely useless.

I honestly believed it would clear up on its own, but after 2 weeks without any improvement, I couldn’t take it anymore. So, I had my husband drive me to the emergency room. They kept me there for 3 days, gave me steroids and antibiotics, and was finally able to take me off of the oxygen concentrator.

I’m home now and feel almost 100% better. I am so grateful for those doctors and nurses. I was beginning to think I’d never breathe normally again.

I’m also extremely grateful for my husband who stayed with me throughout the entire process.

Please, please, please take care of yourselves! If you smoke, quit! I had to this time, and I really wish I had done it sooner.

Peace & Love,

The Burque Bitch
